Dibrugarh’s cherished greenery is steadily diminishing with each passing day, and this troubling decline has become a matter of deep concern for all who value the city’s natural heritage. We are profoundly disturbed by the scale and boldness of ongoing tree felling, along with the uprooting of tea bushes from the beautiful tea estates that lie at the very heart of the city. Witnessing such irreversible damage has left us not only heartbroken, but also searching for answers. This green expanse is far more than a landscape—it is a living, breathing ecological asset that sustains Dibrugarh. It purifies our air, reduces pollution, and preserves the delicate environmental balance essential for a healthy urban life. Its destruction is therefore not merely an environmental loss, but a serious blow to the very character and identity of Dibrugarh—a city long known for its harmonious coexistence with nature.

We are a collective body of responsible and public-spirited citizens dedicated to the preservation and protection of the ecological heritage of Dibrugarh, a city historically renowned for its verdant landscape and distinguished tea legacy. Our initiative has arisen out of a shared and deeply felt concern regarding the alarming and progressive depletion of green cover within the urban and peri-urban regions of Dibrugarh, particularly within the historic tea estates which have, for decades, constituted the environmental backbone and natural lung spaces of the region.
It is respectfully submitted that our engagement in this cause is neither motivated by personal gain nor guided by any private interest. Rather, it is founded upon a solemn sense of civic duty and constitutional responsibility towards environmental protection, public health, and inter-generational equity. We remain firmly committed to the principles of transparency, accountability, and sustainable development, and seek to uphold and protect the natural environment against unregulated, unplanned, and irreversible forms of exploitation and degradation.
