This initiative marks the commencement of our collective efforts for the preservation and protection of our beloved city, Dibrugarh. Under the banner of the “Sustainable Green Dibrugarh Project,” our team undertook a peaceful and awareness-oriented march in the areas of Chowkidingee and Convoy Road, in the vicinity of the Jallannagar South Tea Estate.
The principal objective of this initiative is to safeguard and conserve the invaluable tea heritage and the existing green canopy of the Chowkidingee region, which constitute not only an ecological asset but also an integral part of the historical and cultural identity of Dibrugarh. The rapid pace of urbanisation, if left unchecked, poses a serious threat to these irreplaceable natural resources, thereby necessitating timely and collective intervention.
During the course of the programme, members of our team actively engaged with local commuters, residents, and representatives of the media. Through these interactions, we endeavoured to disseminate awareness regarding the critical importance of preserving our green heritage, emphasising its direct bearing on environmental sustainability, public health, and the well-being of both present and future generations.
We respectfully submit that such initiatives are undertaken in the larger public interest, with the aim of fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among citizens and encouraging institutional support for the protection of Dibrugarh’s ecological legacy.
